About Viridian Astaxanthin
Viridian Astaxanthin is a carotenoid sourced from freshwater microalgae (Haematococcus pluvialis), one of the richest sources of natural astaxanthin. Astaxanthin is cultivated using the pristine waters from the Himalayas in an ideal climate which allows the microalgae to flourish without the requirement for any artificial heating or cooling. As well as minimising the environmental impact of production, the exposure to natural sunlight gives this carotenoid its characteristic vivid red colour as the microalgae reacts to UV light.
Astaxanthin is an antioxidant which cannot be produced by the body on its own, and instead comes from food or supplementation. Astaxanthin-rich foods include salmon, lobster and trout.
